Nau mai haere mai,

Programme for the day.9am - Powhiri
9:30am - Kapa Ti
9:45 am - No hea koe Activity.

Tikanga: It is more common to ask where someone is from than to ask directly who the person is. Asking about where someone is from - often leads to discussion on links and whakapapa. It is considered rude to ask directly - KO WAI KOE? Who are you? because this can be implied to mean "Who are YOU to ask me ..."
A much better question is asking for someones name - Ko wai to ingoa?//
Activity 1: Have students fill in name tags, mix them up and then hand out. Using the cards - either - One students to ask the questions- while the other students answers with their real name and waka. OR - One student says their Pepeha while the other one sees if they have that card. What ever the way you want to play it - the students end up with their own card.
Activity 2: Each student gets a card. In pairs they ask each other - No hea koe?, ko wai koe? If the students have the same card then they play TOKA (rock), PEPA (paper), KUTIKUTI (scissors), the student that wins - takes the card and finds another student, while the other student gets a new card and continues.
